    Gents,

Here is my first pickup of 2019 - M24 Stielhandgranate.
I've been after this iconic item for some time but they are quite hard to get hold of and prices can be steep too. This example is not the mintiest, but i've seen a lot worse and the price was reasonable.

The wooden handle is made by ghs, whereas the head is made by flf - so a mismatch there, but i can live with this. Both are '42 dated.
The head has had the base cut open to remove the explosives inside and there are remains on the paper packaging still in place (discoloured by rust now).
The head is marked with K for kalt (cold) indicating the explosives are good in winter conditions.

    Here’s the manufactures
    ghs - Otto L.Schmidt, Ingenieur
flf- Vossloh-Werke GmbH /Handgranaten-Teile, Kästen für Sprengldg (seems they specialised in grenade making)

    JB - from bergflak.com?
I looked at the codes there and the markings.
Was confident mine was all good compared to the pictures there. I know these are faked / reproduced (What isn't?).

I used Michael Heidlers book “Deutsche Fertigungskennzeichen bis 1945” -“German Secret armament codes until 1945” to find your maker codes.

Seems a pretty useful website you found!

I will check out that book, it's great expanding ones knowledge from books, documentaries, websites etc... Really that is half the fun and helps to connect you to the items you collect.
Brodie, if you see this thread, bergflak.com has some good MG34 stuff (if you've not already seen the site).

Yours looks fine to me! A very nice example. The explosive head and stick being mismatched isn't at all uncommon, as it's often cheaper to acquire both separately and combine them. Are the internal components not present on yours? If not, I know of one dealer currently selling both early and late war fuses if you're interested.

Here's my one and only. Technically a relic, as it was recovered from the Leningrad area in 2017. 'brb' being the wartime manufacturer code for Richard Rinker. These really are iconic pieces of kit, as Jb has already pointed out. The good old 'potato masher!'

The internal fuse is not present - but i think for the time being i will leave it like that, thanks for the pointer though.
Your M24 is also very nice - i think it has just got the edge on mine in terms of condition.

The prices can be very high for these - i've seen them For 1,000 euro and only in marginally better condition.
Mine was no where near that.

Paid just over four hundred quid for mine. The head on yours is in much better shape! If you know where to look, they can be had for prices that aren't absolutely ludicrous. Most dealers want the shirt off your back when it comes to things like this. Shopping around pays off more often than not. Did yours come from Rask Antik by any chance?
