Article about: Saw this old bomb today in front of a Historic House in Albemarle, NC.. The medal tag just states (Dropped 1927)... I think it is a WW1 German Bomb that was given to the town of Albemarle as

    Saw this old bomb today in front of a Historic House in Albemarle, NC.. The medal tag just states (Dropped 1927)... I think it is a WW1 German Bomb that was given to the town of Albemarle as a souviner.. Anyone else have an ID on this odd bomb...BILL

    I think it is a U.S. Mk III 300 pound demo bomb. Very neat, if you get back to it can you pull a length?

    Hi Bill !

    You should see if anyone is still interested in keeping it there anymore.
    It could use a restoration, or at least a sanding and coat of fresh paint !

    There was a static display of a complete and genuine WWII Spitfire
    - minus weaponry of course - here on the Toronto lakeshore about
    thirty years ago, which the city no longer wanted...........I recall it was
    purchased for ONE DOLLAR ! ! (provided the new owner haul it away !)

    Oddly enough the marker that is in front of it is a tempory grave maker used by funeral homes at a new grave before the final headstone arrives
