    Hello i've just acquired a very old shell from a tag sale. The shell is 8 1/2 inches tall, and about 2 inches from one side to the other. It's very thick making me think it is very old.

    It only has two markings on the bottom.

    EP
    97 (...1897?...)

    Could be a 57mm British or Belgium shell ....
