Snap cap?

I've got this,what appears to be a snap cap of some kind. I believe it goes to a M1 Garand. Any ideas? Ron

Could you post a pic of the base, and what is the OAL of the case,NOT including the dummy bullet....Pete

looks 7.62 or 308

It is all one metal piece. (no dummy bullet) The oval is a cut out and that is a spring inside. I picked it up at a big yard sale and the guy didn't know what it was. I'm having trouble doing the pic of the base. Ron

I agree, looks like a 7.62x51mm snap cap, if it was for a garand it would be 7.62x63mm excluding the simulated dummy bullet,but you did not supply a measurement...........

Roughly 1/4" (rimless) and 2 2/16 in length using a ruler. There are no markings on it. Ron

I'm not sure. In fact I know I don't know. I have a K-31 but it's 7.5X55. Can't try it in that. Well, I guess I'll just have to take it to a gun show one of these times. I do thank you for your help zwerge. If you see something on it let me know. Ron
