Unknown Deac Bullet Case

Hi Guys
Recently got given this by my Dad. I remember him buying it 15-20 odd years ago at an army shop.
Any details on it please?

F A 4 stamped on base.

Looks like a .50cal to me. Heavy MG used in all USAAF aircraft and also mounted on Jeeps and tanks of various descriptions.

FA = Frankford Arsenal
4 = 1944 (year of manufacture)

This is actually just a display piece, as exemplified by the holes drilled in the cartridge and the lack of a blast cap. The body also looks to be made of steeel rather than brass.

Nice feller though I love digging these cartridges up......even though I've dug over 150 now I still get a buzz when one comes out the ground
