Default WWI French Schneider 105mm Casing with Painted Marks??

    Greetings

I found this WWI French Schneider 105mm casing and it has a bunch of abbreviations painted on it. The lettering is old and some have suggested it is related to it's reloading. Seems odd that they would go through all that trouble.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards
    Rob

They look more like points of reference to me than reload marks.
