Here is a 50 to compare to as well. Better photos. Same award except for the number box.

    Panzerkampfabzeichen III Stufe 50 JFS

I don't know about this one. I don't proclaim to be a master of these, but I've looked it over in detail. It has a lot of the traits that you would want to see on an original. But....overall the details on your award are very weak. Not sure if it is due to wear, poor photos or a sign it is a copy. But I do find it consistently across the award.

I also see a flaw (a break in the vertical line) on the bottom of the right most feather. My "50" do not have this flaw (which, I think is the most closely matching to yours as far as period of manufacture based on the die wear - i.e. condition of the talons and the partial oval line above the catch)

My gut tells me to be careful. Lets see what others have to say.

How much does this award weigh?

Compare the date box, lugs on the drive wheel, and the poor details on the first two road wheels.
I also believe I see some differences in the soil below the logs.
Copies of this award are almost perfect, and can be difficult to determine.

    Some interesting points to consider
Can see some detail has been lost in my photos when I look at it with a loupe
Will try and get some better shots under natural light if the sun decides to come out today
It is 29.58 grams give or take a few hundredths

Some slightly more detailed photos for consideration (sun never did come out but that is the British summer for you)

I agree with Ralph and Michael about the differences in this badge and will add the punch outs between the legs and wings are also different . This area was punched out and all original badges will be exactly the same with no hand finishing . Pin hinge and catch should be magnetic . 61.73mm H - 41.79mm w -30 to 35 gr in wt. according to Mr. Durante's great book on the subject. Your badge should be a little heavy with the repair . Hope this helps

I think the signs point to this being a bad one. Shape of the punch outs between legs and wings and the weight being wrong decided it for me.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to help out with this one.
    Regards
    Loz
