Hello Stefan,
May I be the first to welcome you to the Forum, unfortunately the Service Number that you quoted : 30016845 was your Grandfathers Service Number in the Polish Resettlement Corps after the end of the war.
I have had a look through the recipients of the Monte Cassino Cross and found one Stefan Pawlak a Kapitan in 2nd Corps Headquarters.
Your best course of action would be to apply for your Grandfathers Service Record from the British Ministry of Defence, unfortunately they charge for this and you would also need to provide the appropriate paperwork. I have placed a link to the page below, if you do decide to do this be sure to ask for copies of all information they have both British and Polish, otherwise you may just receive a 1 or 2 page letter detailing his service.

Please let us know how you get on and if there is anything further we can do to help.
Best wishes
Andrzej
