Rank Identificaiton?

Hey Guys!
I'm hoping a kind fellow here can help me with this identification. Pictured below is a photograph of my grandfather who served for the People's Army in WW2. I've been trying to research into his service during the war and a vital piece of information I need to know is his rank! But I'm having trouble identifying the ranking on his collar... Hopefully anybody here will know! Thank You!

Hi, it looks like one star so 2nd Lieutenant.
It was changed in 1952 for 2 stars for 2nd Lt like in the Soviet Army.
