These two are the mother and her son. Dated 13/02/1945, Moscow.

The son, starshina (sergeant-major) has got 'Excellent Scout' badge. His mother is decorated with the Medal of Military Merit.

That's what the inscription on the backside of the photo clearly says. 'Zheka (simplified Eugenia) and her son Volya' (either Vladimir or Vladislav). In fact, the woman looks young at first glance. However, if we look carefully we'll see she is about 40-45.

The similiarity between the two sure is unmistakable. A very nice photograph!
