1939 ausweis: Litzmannstadt Ghetto marked

Hi,

This ausweis is probably the most interesting of the German issued ID's. It was first issued after August 1938 and probably stopped around 1940-1941. What makes this ausweis very unusual is that it has the rubber stamp from Litzmannstadt Ghetto (Lodz) indicating that the holder passed away (1.1.42).

Hi Ade,

These Jewish ausweises can be found in the US, many Jews arrived with them in 1938 up to even 1940. The Ghetto rubber stamp, well, that is more harder to find.
