262nd Inf Div Photo album to Doctor poland russia 41
Hi All, I just picked up this really nice photo album and thought I would share, here are the details,
Album belonging to a Stabartz (Doctor) Rudolf Schmidt. detailed service in the album - units, promotions, and awards. He has quite a few awards including EK2, Black Wound Badge, EK1, Inf Assault Badge, Ostmedaille, KVK2, KVK1, KURLAND CUFFTITLE and , interestingly, BLOCKADE BREAKER BADGE! Also comes with a few of his diary pages from 1941, Photos begin in 1940 with him serving as Kompanie Spiess, many identified medical officers, initial unit appears to be Stab Art Rgt 262 of the 262 Inf Division. nice photos in the field, parades, hand drawn maps of his travels in the war, with medical officers in Balkans, knocked out Russian KV-2 tank, photos of him being awarded EK2 in the field, photos of him serving in Feldlazarette 331 in Mokroje. I included as many of the better photos as I could, there is a photo of a church in Grybow Poland that still stands today as shown, if anyone can add to the info about this person, or places, or help out with the diary entries that would be appreciated.
Thanks for looking

That is a brilliant historical piece, for him to plot on a line map his unit movements is very interesting.

A very nice album with the routes taken, etc. Not much has changed
in that Polish town 'Gvybow' with it's church ! It also appears that
he was a POW in England or in an English camp.........

Thanks for the info and comments, I will post some more combat related photo's later, I searched his name and found the same Dr's name as a member of the defense counsel at the nuremberg trials for war crimes against nazi doctors, could be coincidence.
