Re: Citation in Mein Kampf
Hi Roland,
It appears to me that the recipient of this copy of 'Mein Kampf ' worked in the advertising department of the 'Volkischer Beobachter' newspaper as it roughly translates to, 'In recognition of exemplary advertising work for the Volkischer Beobachter.
Regards, Ned.
'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.
Last Entry - For God's sake look after our people.'
In memory of Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, Edward Wilson, Henry Bowers, Lawrence Oates and Edgar Evans. South Pole Expedition, 30th March 1912.

Re: Citation in Mein Kampf
Many thanks for the info. The owner's name is something Raddatz, not good at reading German hand writing, and the signature i think is Amann. Cheers, Roland.

Sorry, but no; please see my above post: Werbearbeit für... does not mean we worked in the advertising department for the VB, but rather that the undertook promotion work for the paper, most likely in finding new subscribers.

Re: Citation in Mein Kampf
An easy mistake; really no need to apologize!

Re: Citation in Mein Kampf
An unusual and interesting edition.
I'm not sure what these books sell for nowadays,
but it has to be worth more because of this citation !
If this was found at a flea market, they may not have
known it's value. Was it a bargain ?

Re: Citation in Mein Kampf
Hi, now you've got me thinkng, I've always liked reading this book in English but have never had a German version so decided to buy this one at 20 pounds, I wonder how much it's actually worth. Cheers, Roland.
