    Hi all

Can anybody help me translate this death card and if possible provide any further insight?

I can decipher that he was a Obergefreiter in a mountain troop regiment (Gebirgsjager) .

He was the owner of an EK1 & EK2 but then I can't understand the next part, does it simply say 'and other awards'?

Born in November 1922, it looks like he was killed 10th August 1944 and was buried in Stryi in the Carpathians?

Any other insights are very welcome!

    Cheers
    Tom

Thanks again Will, amazing stuff. Pretty sobering that both cards I have and have been translated suffered death by shots to the head.

If I come across any more cards in my travels I will be sure to seek out the experts again.

    Cheers

    My pleasure Tom.

Death cards are a really interesting thing to collect. They are also a poignant reminder about the the ordinary soldier who fell during the war.

    Kind regards,

    Will.
