Help on a signature....pleeeeze!
I have a stupid question that will probably easily be answered and that is I have a load of paperwork which i just bought, and in amongst it all is a cert for the KVK. That looks like it has been signed by the General Fieldmarshall of the 12 Army Wilhelm List would this be his signature? Its penned and the certificate is real as they come and interestingly it is issued for Kephisia in may 41 which I believe is the Kreta campaign ? So would the big boss of 12th Army sign a piddly little KVK document?
I'm not too up on this paperwok, takes too long to research it then some one buys it in 2 seconds!

Re: Help on a signature....pleeeeze!
A lot is made about whether a doc of "low" importance could be signed by a high status officer. They signed what was put in front of them at the time. This question has been asked elsewhere,i believe regarding a KVK2 w/s & it was authenticated.
@ John,if you don't wanna post it here email it to me for a look. Stewy S

Re: Help on a signature....pleeeeze!
John,
That is definately the signature of List as i have it in my archive.
Not totally uncommon for very Senior ranks to sign docs for a lowly award especially if the unit was attached to Armee HQ and the Armee commander was aware of the reasons for the award.

Paul

Re: Help on a signature....pleeeeze!
Hi John, the CO of 12 Armee for that date should be Wilhelm List. Cannot say that reads as List to me, but who knows??
Cheers, Ade.
Sorry posted this after Paul!
