Not sure what the purpose of your post is and why you think there is a U-Boat connection. I see a depth chart map that bears a stamp of the naval shipyard in Kiel.
Ok so not a U-boat map..Thank you. Just a depth chart ?
I wouldn’t say “just” a depth chart. It is a decorative piece, but not just for U-Boats. Depth in shallow waters is important for all shipping. And this one came from a shipyard in Kiel.
Looks like a navigational chart for that particular area dated 1912 but obviously used in the TR era. No idea on originality. Could be naval or commercial. Shows the depth soundings and sketches of the horizon from specific areas which would include landmarks. Probably aimed more at surface vessels showing sand bars, navigational channels.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
Hello,
And what exactly does that have to do with buckles?
Regards..
Nice map I think but wrong forum, I will move
Ben
Hi Ben, what forum will you move it to ? Thanks
Out of curiosity do you know if anything has been written on the other side of this chart? It may be that there may be additional notes, annotations that might broaden the background of this find? The stamps do imply it came from the charts department at Kiel as already said.
