    An item that I owned for quite a while, acquired from a family member.

    This piece, the original Czechoslovakian identity card, came as part of a grouping of documents related to a former political prisoner of KLs Auschwitz, Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora. Despite the odds, the gentleman survived the ordeal.

    Born in 1916, the young man was registered at Buchenwald as a political prisoner during the summer of 1943. Following his arrival, he was forced to work at the Mittelbau-Dora sub-camp, which later became an independent Konzentrationslager.
