To the Newly Married
Mr. Heribert Schmeidl and Mrs. ? Schmidt
Dedicated to the memory of their 21 Nov.1944 Marriage
The mayor of the City of Vienna:
Ph.W.Jung
I'm having a tough time deciphering the names with 100% certainty...
Exciting wedding night reading!....
You've got them right. Allow me to fill in the blank: The bride's first name was Maria. The mayor was Philipp Wilhelm Jung. (Actually, by Nov. 1944 his successor Hanns Blaschke; but it looks like a printed signature and apparently, the old copies were used up.)
And all we got from the registrar was a cookbook...
From what I understand, in most cases the book was graciously accepted and then transferred to its permanent residence holding down a bookshelf, where it could well have resided until you bought it if that shelf were still in its place. Evidently Hitler's second struggle was getting people to actually read his book.
Nice item all the same. I'm looking for one with the dust jacket myself, which I believe was called the people's edition.
Thank you Glenn for the translation and thanks to all of you on your impute . I will post some new pictures of this addition to my collection.

its the 3 Bs,Bloody Boring Book.
In Germany such books cost today around 60-70 euros so $80 is a normal price. Not too cheap but not too high also. Almost every family in Germany had one. Most of them are never opened and so in very good condition:-).
