That's a cool grouping, and in really great shape too...I see a 1942 entry of residence in Krakau with the Generalgouvernement/Poland, where he was promoted to Assistant Financial Administrator for the SA in the Generalgouvernement ...
The SA Ausweis was issued in Mannheim by the SA Gruppe Kurpfalz...My grandfather was from Mannheim, btw...
cheers,Glenn

Thanks Glen! The book is in pretty good shape although the spine is starting to separate. They used the type of binding that employs thread stitching for the binding, which has held it together though and I think it will survive me if it's not handled a lot. Now that I have the scans, I won't need to bring it out to enjoy it which will help.
That's really cool about your grandfather too. My roots come from Germany too, though I think my relatives came here long enough ago I'm not aware of a family tree to know where from and when. Was your grandfather likely in Mannheim while Willy was there?

More than likely, yes...but much younger than Willy....The Ausweis was issued in 1939, but Willy was born in 1902 whereas my grandfather wasn't born until 1924, ..In 1942 while Willy was in Krakau Poland, my grandfather was in Denmark and Norway before going to Russia...
cheers, Glenn
