Hello,
Three photos that were taken by what appears to have been an Unteroffizier August Kramer that served with Kraftwagen-Betriebsstoff Kolonne 2 of 7. Flieger/ 1. Fallschirm. Div. The feldpost of the unit arose in February 1942 while under the famed 7. Flieger Division. It would continue serving as part of the supply line for the 1. Fallschirmjäger Division after the renaming. The feldpost was gestrichen 30.6.1944 although they continued until November of that year. Interesting aspect of the division that I have not found to exist online beyond its feldpost.
Three friends in the column posed in front of a fuel wagon, Frankreich 1943. I like the middleman wearing a dirty, winter jumpsuit. This photo would have been taken in the spring of 1943 in Normandy while being refreshed after having fought in Russia since October 1942. This was the second of two hard-fought deployments to the east by the 1. Fallschirm-Division. Unlike the first deployment that placed them on defensive positions along the Neva River outside Leningrad, the 1942-1943 deployment was a fast-moving offensive that placed them as a premier fighting force everywhere between Vitebsk and Kursk. This fuel column was busy following one of the ever-marching regiments of the division.
This was his Sunday best while in Italy. He writes that this was taken on a Sunday somewhere unidentified in Italy.
Seen wearing the tropical tunic and trousers that were popular amongst the Ramcke Brigade and DAK troops while in Afrika. This uniform found its way to Italy to be issued alongside the traditional smocks.
Regards, Ben
