Thanks a lot, this is very interesting! SS Pol division was an obvious one, but nonetheless good to see the regiment. What is more interesting is the one from the KM. Actually i think that this is a very rare unit stationed at Kirishi (river unit deep in Russia). However, new info doesn't confirm it yet.

Managed to read the place of burial of Huemer - Irsa (near Kirishi), so my guess was correct. A rare Kirishi flotilla casualty. Thanks again for the info!

2/ schwPzrAbt 502, (Carius' Tiger Kompanie), killed at Narwa in 1944. This was the only Tiger unit that operated during the 1944 battles around Narwa. A rare sterbebild, being able to own it is very special. At the time of Franz's death the 2/502 were engaged in the beginnings of the Third Operation Strachwitz, around Point 312. They lost a handful of tanks that day, so it is possible he was a crewman killed in one of them being knocked out/disabled.

That is amazing mate! There were 2 Tigers disabled that day **I think**, I flicked through Tigers in the Mud to that date and it reads like 2 were, but it may have just been one. If he was in a Tiger, then it’s most likely when they were both disabled.

Really appreciate the Ancestry record mate, just saved it to my PC.

    Kindest regards and many thanks
    Harvey
