I had never seen an example like this before.

All appear to have died due to attacks by enemy aircraft.

durch feindt. Bombenabwurf und Besch mit bordwaffen (through enemy. Dropping bombs and destroying them with on-board weapons)

Perhaps victims of a strafing attack whilst engaged in keeping the rollbahn intact? Not seen one like this either, an interesting piece of ephemera.

The place of death is noted as -

It would a question for any of the Russian speakers in the forum as to whether it is possible to find archive material relating to which soviet unit carried out the sortie (it must be out there somewhere).

Another recent addition, a black bordered envelope addressed to the family of Gefreite Christian Wiese. Heinrich is his Father

Hello everyone.

Here is a quick update from post #641.

I found another Sterbebild for Emil, but this one has been modified by the printing company. I would imagine that the family of Emil didn't have a photo of him in uniform and requested this.

If any of you fellow collectors have similar examples, please post them up.

I could only find a Casualty card for Simon.

Was not sure whether to post him here or not. Karl Grabner succumbed in 1942, but was clearly a veteran of an earlier conflict.
