A couple aspects of this postcard surprised me. First, the card was sent from Camp Alva, which is in Oklahoma. But it's postmarked from New York City. I suppose that the mail might have been consolidated (and maybe censored) in NYC before being sent overseas. The second and most puzzling thing is -- How did the soldier come to have his photo postcard to send? It's surprising that he would still have this among his possessions, and also surprising that a POW could send a postcard of himself in uniform. Anyone else find that odd? Maybe it isn't...
