But a few weeks ago a friend sent me an email of this very set for sale on another dealer website for a couple of thousand Euros - but what he also brought to my attention was that three months ago the Soldbuch was sold by another dealer for less than 100 Euros because when they had it not only did the citation not exist but there wasn't any awards entered.
In the space of three months someone has not only put a false entry in to the Soldbuch and complete with a stamp that matches the unit but has also made a citation to go with it.
So basically someone out there is sitting on 3,400 Euros of waste paper and has absolutely no idea. And if nothing else this illustrates why it is so vital to do your homework, research and compile your own files because that award entry in the Soldbuch is actually very well done (if you ignore for a minute the fact that this man has supposedly won an APB in Silver without collecting any other awards on the way).
How unscrupulous. Strange how it's changed hands twice & been messed about, in such a short space of time, considering it had spent it's whole life in it's original form. An expensive lesson for the poor soul that bought it, I would like to think that he'd get his money back, if & when he finds out what he's got, but sounds as though the dealer knew EXACTLY what he was selling. Sad to see this 'extortion' happening, bad enough if it's £50.

It seems so Hucks, you're friend sure had an eagle eye, recognising it's recent whereabouts ! Totally goes 'against the grain' of us collectors & decency in general, just a pair of crooks, in whatever trade they chose.

Thanks for posting this Kevin , another salutary and expensive for someone lesson that our hobby is full of charlatans and fraudsters that includes collectors and dealers . Research and knowledge are the key to success in every facet of Militaria collecting without that the collector leaves himself open to what is nothing more than fraud .

Is that Carsten Baldes' site which sold it, looks very similar. Such a shame that whomever did the altering feels the need to do so with a world of fraudulent items already out there. Another example of money meaning more than customer relations
Hopefully with this evidence the buyer might be able to get his money back, despicable behaviour and they have ruined and original document as well.
