What nation are these soldiers from?
I'm guessing they're not German, but they might be Axis, I bought them in a lot with 80+ German pictures from Norway(A lot, but not all were from Norway, there were even some pre-war German early Nazi part/Hitler Jugend pictures which were nice). It looks to be taken up in the North due to the terrain, probably Norway/Finland. The helmet doesn't look German.

French. Note both the helmet and sheepskin jacket. Remember France sent troops to Norway in 1940.

Re: What nation are these soldiers from?
Thanks Ade!
I thought about that, but was not sure about it since it came with a German lot of pictures, and I assumed it was taken by a German. It appears they are not using German gear of any sort, so I'd guess the picture is indeed of French soldiers in Norway, 1940.

Yes, French 5e Demi-Brigade Chasseurs Alpins fought in Norway in 1940.
I have an artists impression in a book showing a French mountain trooper wearing this uniform.
Cheers, Ade.
