This is something that came with some recent letters I acquired. Upon inspection, I realized that from what I can tell, it has never been opened. It looks to be the type of letter that folds into an envelope. The adhesive that keeps it folded seems to be sealed and never torn. Of course, it’s possible that it was once opened then reglued. But it it doesn’t look like it. There are no tears or anything to suggest it was ever opened.

I’ve been thinking about a safe way to open it without causing damage to the letter. Nonetheless I thought it was interesting and wanted to share.

Steaming open the envelope would be my preference, although the contents may not warrant the effort. Perhaps leaving this one sealed is the most valuable option.

    Hi JB.

It is a very interesting situation to be in.

The feldpost number relates to -

    35403

    (30.7.1941-28.2.1942) Stab II u. 5.-8. Kompanie Feld-Regiment der Luftwaffe 3,
    (8.9.1943-22.4.1944) 16.12.1943 gestrichen
    (25.11.1944-Kriegsende) 19.3.1945 Chef Transportwesen Planungs-Abteilung.

    Kind regards,

Yeah you’re probably right. I’m thinking I’m gonna keep it sealed.

Ask the FBI or KGB, they can do it.

I would be dying to know what was inside it. It could be something historically important, but just my opinion. Steam/ hair dryer might do the trick.
