    Hi there.

I found three casualty cards for Ludwig.

    Name: Ludwig Reif
    Rank: Polizei Wachtmeister der Reserve
    Birth Date: 22 July 1902
Birth Place: Cham In Wald Oberpfalz*
Military Unit: 6 polizei panzerjägerkompanie Lt. Ref. Ii*
    Death Date: 26 March 1943
Death Place: Reservelazarett Neumarkt/Lchles. Bahnhofstraße 16*

His cause of death is noted as Kniegelenks eiterung nach Oberschenkelschuß (Suppuration of the knee joint after a shot in the thigh).

Suppuration is defined as the discharging of pus from a wound, sore, etc
    Just a moment...

It looks like he is buried in the Cham In Wald/Oberpfalz Städt Friedhof, Grave number 15, row 14*

    * = I am not 100% sure about the place names or the Lt. Ref. li abbreviation, so hopefully someone can confirm or correct this.

I added this to tie in with your previous post about Ludwig -
Help with info about the 6th Polizei panzerjägerkompanie

    Kind regards,

    Will.

Thank you for all the info! It’s odd how on the death card it has his birthday listed as March 26th 1902 and not July 22nd 1902. I’m surprised they would get something like that wrong.

    No worries.

It really puzzles me how these mistakes are made and how often they can be seen.

Here is an example from my collection that shows conflicting information -

Sterbebild, Casualty card and Volksbund anomaly

    Kind regards,

    Will
