Pickelhaube for restoration

Article about: I have this rather sad looking Pickelhaube that is in need of restoration. The rear tail is so dry it has started to break, I do have the pieces that fell off. Is a rather small size.

    I have this rather sad looking Pickelhaube that is in need of restoration. The rear tail is so dry it has started to break, I do have the pieces that fell off. Is a rather small size.

    Not sure that can be fixed. Maybe you can find donor parts? That said, all the hardware seems to be painted grey and the chin strap is a repro. Might be best just to leave it as is and any work put in will not increase the value

    The 1915 version all had grey painted badges etc and could no longer use brass, so they were steel or grey painted. Not sure if any of this grey paint is original.

    Yes. I'm aware as I own a number of the 1915 versions myself. But from these photos, all the fittings on yours appear to have been painted recently.
