Hi all,
I'm trying to find out more information about my great grandfather, jozef Sarwa, who received this medal. I too have found him listed in the feefhs.org site (link below).
Any help would be gratefully received!
Thanks
Emily

Hello Emily,
Your Great Grandfather Podporucznik (2nd Lieutenant) Józef Sarwa was awarded the Silver Cross of the War Order Virtuti Militari Numbered 2484 whilst serving in the 18 Pułk Piechoty (18th Infantry Regiment.
I will search through the Officers Yearbooks for 1923, 1924, 1928, & 1932 to find out how he progressed.
Best wishes
Andrzej

Hello Emily,
I have gone through the Officers Yearbooks for 1923, 1924, 1928, 1932, & 1934 Reserve Officers Yearbook and have found the following entries for him:
1923: Pages: 177, 507. He was actually listed as a Porucznik (Lieutenant) serving in the 18PP (he was listed as being 2302 in seniority from 1st June 1919. He was also listed as an Officer of the Reserve.
1924: Pages: 167, 447, He was still listed as a Porucznik still with the 18PP, but is listed with the VM 5, he was by now 2144 in senority.
1928: No Mention
1932: No Mention
1934 Reserve Officers Yearbook: Pages: 18 & 494. he was listed still as a Porucznik, but now serving with the 43PP, also noted is His date of Birth: 22nd June 1891, he was by 1934 1217 in seniority and was living in Krzemieniec which was in the Wołyń provence which is now in the Ukraine..
That is all that I have been able to find except for one thing a photograph of Ppor Józef Sarwa, which I just thought you might like to see.
Best wishes
Andrzej
