conjecture assumes that genuine unissued badge 383 could not have been used with the addition of a zero. the number font is totally different to Kirkwood's stamps. close inspection would reveal if a previous number had been ground away. more questions than answers !

The helmet itself is a good Mk.II, but that eagle is nothing like I’ve seen before. Is that even paint? It looks like someone has worked very hard to make this look convincing, and failed. The eagle pattern also doesn’t match those most frequently seen on 2nd Corps helmets.
