It is technically possible that the owner of the ribbon bar was a junior officer in the PSZ. However, you’ll note that he was a veteran of the border wars of 1918-1921 (and awarded the Polish Cross of Valour twice during the 2nd Republic) so he was an older individual and possibly of a higher rank.

For a post war “best / walking out” BD, the second. Not that I want to encourage the creation of a reproduction, but for the sake of accuracy the correct placement of insignia starts with the Poland titles 10mm below the shoulder seam, and then roughly two finger widths between the 2nd Corps mermaid and the DSK, and the same on the right side with the 8th Army shield.
