Hello Mittra,
Many thanks for your post the J R Gaunt Badges are from the PAF Service in the UK 1940-1945.
The first one is the Flight Engineer Badge from 1944
The second is the Air Gunners Badge also from 1944
I hope this helps you
Best wishes

Its definitely not a Polish Paratrooper beret. The star insignia is hooked on the back with a metal circle that was usually used for buttons that one would take off the BD before washing. I have not seen this on a Polish Beret. The area around the Eagle is discolored, meaning there most likely was a different insignia there before. Any private purchase beret should be viewed suspiciously and really these need PROVENANCE.... without provenance how does one date it ?
Good morning, good point, reliable provenance seems to be the only way to really move forward when talking to items like these. I did not notice the insignia hooked on the back, thanks for pointing out. My conclusion for thinking private purchase officer is the silk band, the eyelets same color as the beret. What do you think on the weave on the top; normally for ww2 berets it is an indication that it is broadly within the time frame (realise that this still extends outside the ww2 period both in manufacture and issue). Cheers
strong results
