Hello everyone,
About st. sierż. pil. Marcin Machowiak: 22.07.1944 No. 306 Squadron Auster III MZ254 W/O. Machowiak
Also link to the information about the Polish Fighting Team in which he served in Africa, in the context of the dedication engraved on the plate placed in this box: Polish Fighting Team - Wikipedia
I am also very interested in your opinion about this box.

Hello mittra,
According to what is written on the plate the box belonged to a Polish pilot Senior Sergeant Marcin Machowiak. On the plate is the inscription: On the Birthday, st. sierż. pil., Marcinowi Machowiakowi, Goubrine 7 IV 43.
He probably got it from his fellow pilots as a birthday present in the City of Goubrine in Africa where his team named "Polish Fighting Team" (which was a part of the 145th RAF Squadron) was stationed from 15th April to 6th May 1943.
Regards,
Konrad

Hello Konrad,
A rather belated Birthday present seeing that his Birthday was the 7th April.
Goubrine Airfield Tunisa
Skalski in his plane ZX-6 on the Airfield in April 1943
Best wishes

Yes, you are right, Andrzej. Exactly that's why it can raise some doubts about the authenticity of this box. But on the other hand, it means that in fact the guys were a bit late with the present.
In your photo: Supermarine Spitfire Mark IXCs of the Polish Fighting Team (Skalski's Circus) attached to No. 145th Squadron RAF, run up their engines at the Goubrine airfield in Tunisia, April-May 1943. In the foreground is EN315 "ZX-6", flown by the unit's Commanding Officer, Squadron Leader Stanisław Skalski, with EN261 "ZX-10" beyond.
Have a nice day,
Konrad

Hello mittra,
Read carefully my post number #1321 and wikipedia link.
According to various sources "Polish Fighting Team" arrived at the Goubrine only on 15th April while this Airfield is engraved on the plate with the date 7th April.
Regards,
Konrad

PS In accordance with ranks used in RAF aviation the Senior Sergeant (st. sierż.) was called Flight Sergeant F/Sgt.
