Badge I.D. Rampant lion over 2

Hi Guys, I picked this badge up this past weekend. I've done a lot of research, and recruited a couple of specialists, but this one escapes identification. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It appears to be a cap badge with the reverse hardware. It may be made of sterling, its tarnished as such, but no markings. It was sold to me as Scottish. Could be Belgian, Finnish, Estonian or who knows. Its a beauty, that's for sure. Thanks in advance, Rick.

Hi Rick--
It's the badge worn on the right breast pocket by troops of 2nd Rifle Grenadier Battalion of the Polish Army in the West. It was made about 1940 by Lawrie & Co., Glasgow. It should be silver, and may or may not be marked. It was only in use from about 1940 until 1945. Nice find!

Hello Rick, the badge ID is correct, however the other information provided requires tweaking. The badge was stamped in white metal alloy and oxidized. With a piece of Royal Stewart tartan as backing it was worn to the left of the eagle badge on the beret and FS cap. I have read that officers also applied the badge to their rogatywka caps but have yet to see an example. On reassignment to another unit the badge could then be worn commemoratively on the left breast pocket, minus the tartan backing.

Thank you Tony, I like it very much with the tartan. When I was doing my research I found the rampant lion was very Scottish looking. When I think about the Polish Army in the West, I keep thinking about Gene Hackman in A Bridge Too Far. Ha, ha... Thanks again. R.
