    In response to your last post, I have a better photograph of Kapl. Ks. Gerard Waculik grave at the Polish war cemetery at Bologna

    Monte Cassino cross

    Born on the 9th August 1910, when awarded the Monte Cassino Cross he was serving on the Staff of 3DSK, Army Number : 1910-244-III, awarded the Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 1952. When he died he was serving in the Commando Battalion.

    He was arrested in 1940 in the Ukraine.

    Surname : Mich

    Christian Name : Tomasz

    Fathers Name : Tomasz

    Date of Birth : 1910

    Army Number : (also found on His ID Tags) : 1910-83-III

    Unit : Sanitarny Osrodek Ewakuacyjny (3rd Casualty Clearing Station, Based at Venafro)

    During the September 1939 Campaign he was either a Regular or Reservist, captured by the soviets at Brzeżany on the 19th September and joined the Anders Army at Tockoje on the 2nd September 1941.

    In 1965 Tomasz Mich applied for and was granted British Citizenship on the 12th May 1965 whilst working as a Machine Woodworker and living at 25 Green Street, Bridgend, Glamorgan. London Gazette Dated 20th July 1965, Issue Number 43718, Page 6953.

    Tomasz Mich died in 1984 in Ogwr, Glamrganshire, Wales, that is all the information that I was able to find for you at this moment if I find anything else I will let you know.

    Many thanks for your post and my I be the first to welcome to the Forum and congratulate you on your acquisition the Monte Cassino Cross Numbered 23086. When awarded the recipients details were as follows :

    Rank : Starszy Ogniomistrz (Staff Sergeant Artillery)

    Surname : Kozuba

    Christian Name : Aleksander

    Fathers Name : Marceli

    Date of Birth : 1895

    Army Number : (also found on His ID Tags) : 1895-100-III

    Unit : 5 Pulku Art. P-Lotn (5th Anti Aircraft Artillery Regiment)

    During the September 1939 Campaign he served either as a Regular of Reservist (this can be confirmed by requesting the Service Record from the Records Centre at Rembertów. He was captured by the soviets in Włodzimierz Wołyński, on the 22nd September 1939, he joined the Anders Army at Tockoje on the 2nd September 1941.

    Hello Everyone,

    Whilst surfing yesterday I came across the following Virtuti Militari Legitymacja awarded to Pplk Antoni Tomasz Świerzy Numbered 9963, he served both in the Italy and the UK during WW2. Pplk Antoni Tomasz Świerzy was in May 1944 Commanding Officer of the 9PAC at Monte Cassino, he was born on the 2nd January 1898, Service Number (also found on His ID Tags) : 1898-263-III. He was awarded the Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 33096, along with the KW and Bar (1918-1921), SKZ (1930's) and the KW (1939-1945) ZKZzM (1944-1945). You will also notice that his VM Legitymacja was signed and dated 25th October 1947.

    After the end of the War in Europe he came to the UK with his Regiment to Stobs Camp nr Hawick in Roxburghshire, some how, he decided on settling in Nottinghamshire where he died on the 20th December 1955 and was buried on the 24th December 1955.
