    I my list recipient I have saved Odrowąż-Zawadzki.

    THX for Your post.

    He most probably used the names of Zawadzki in the 2nd Corpus, without the second part Odrowąż. Yes, he is included in the monograph 3 DSK.

    Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 4797 when awarded the recipients details were as follows :

    Rank : St.Saper (Lance Corporal/Engineer)

    Surname : Gołowańczuk

    Christian Name : Grzegorz

    Date of Birth : 1911

    Army Number : 1911-103-III

    Unit : 3KBSap (3rd Carpathian Engineers Battalion)

    He ended the war as a Kapral (Corporal), he came to the UK, where in 1955 he married in Hitchin, Hertsfordshire.

    In 1968 he applied for and was granted British Citizenship under the following :

    Golowan Gregory, Formerly Gregory Golowanczuk, Poland, Crane Operator, 12 Clare Crescent, Baldock, Hertfordshire, 12th December 1968.

    The above notice appeared in the London Gazette Issue Nr : 44802, Page : 2356, Dated 4th March 1969.

    Gregory died in 1993 in Hitchin.

    Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 5326 when awarded the recipients details were as follows :

    Rank : Strz. (Rifleman)

    Surname : Hanc

    Christian name : Piotr

    Date of Birth : 1921

    Army Number : 1921-24-III

    Unit : 1BSK

    By the end of the war he had been awarded the KW, he came to the UK with his Battalion after the end of the war.

    He married in 1956 in Slough, he then applied for British Citizenship in 1963, the following appeared in the London Gazette :

    Hanc Piotr, Poland, Machine Operator, 39 Woodlands Avenue, Slough, Buckinghamshire, 2nd December 1963.

    The above entry appeared in the London Gazette Issue Nr : 43262, Page Nr : 1994, Published : 3rd March 1964.

    Piotr Hanc died in Slough in 1995.


    Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 23628, when awarded the recipients details were as follows :

    Rank : Kapral

    Surname : Alechno

    Christian Name : Władysław

    Date of Birth : 1913

    Army Number : 1913-30-III

    Unit : 15PULP

    Unfortunately I could not find anything further on Władysław, for you Tom, I hope that the above is of some use and help to you.

    If someone would be able to explain the phenomenon of this number 40213???
    Brass and metal-(15%) COPY. Two lines at the numbers. Incorrect with the original number O and 1.

    The last ones managed to get some money with prices ...
    For a copy of 500 zlotys...

    In the September Campaign 1939 he was either a Regular or Reservist captured by the soviets on the 17th September 1939 in the town of Zdołbunów, he joined the Anders Army at Tockoje on the 2nd September 1941.
