    Hello Artur,

    With reference to your Post Numbered 3143 asking for details for Antoni Starnawski, he was awarded the MCC and BKZzM, whilst a Kapral, Born in 1913, Army Number 1913-24-III, Unit : PUK, Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 38650

    Then in your Post Numbered 3144 you had changed his Name to Starnowski.

    We got there in the end.

    Many thanks for your post Numbered 3145, apologies I have had some bad news this week and have taken time off from the Forum to digest it.

    With regards to your question the simple answer is he was possibly just missed off the original list and after it came to light he was added onto the end of the allocation.

    We will probably never know the reason why this happened, all that we can do is to surmise what might have happened

    Many thanks for your post Numbered 3154, the Monte Cassino Cross has been well cleaned removing its original surface, but it still looks alright.

    When awarded the Monte Cassino Cross Numbered 3651 the Recipients details were as follows :

    Rank : Strz. (Rifleman)

    Surname : Czerwiwiec

    Christian Name : Stanisław

    Date of Birth : 1919

    Army Number : (also found on His ID Tags) : 1919-58-III

    Unit : 5BSK

    By the end of the Campaign in Italy he had been awarded the Krzyż Walecznych (Cross of Valour), after the end of the war he came and settled in the UK and in 1953 he married Władysława Paszkowska.

    Stanisław Czerwiwiec died in 1990 in Chiltern & South Buckinghamhire District.

    By the end of the war he was serving in the 7PUL and had been awarded the Krzyż Walecznych (Cross of Valour)

    Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 25629

    Rank : Saper

    Surname : Markiecki

    Christian Name : Józef

    Fathers Name : Józef

    Date of Birth : 1903

    Army Number : 1903-106-III

    Unit : DS5KDP (5KDP Division Engineers)

    He fought in the September 1939 Campaign and was captured by the soviets on the 18th September 1939 in Łuck, he joined the Anders Army of the 5th September 1941 although no place of joining is listed.
