    Hello DEAR Andrzejku

As I wrote, the deposit does not contain a cross or Legit. and there is no record about posting. For sound reason and logic, what you wrote could be correct, but there is no confirmation that MMC number 18525 was awarded to strzelec MACIEJEWSKI Zygmunt.

In my opinion, KMC was not given to these two soldiers in the same time as all of the battalion and these missing numbers are the ones they were assigned. Only why there is no ID card and a cross in Maciejewski's deposit. As far as I know some deposits are still in England.

    MCC was awarded to:

    18524:kpr.śp MURASZKO Dominik
    18525:strz.śp MAŁYSKA Bronisław
    18526:strz.śp NOWAK Stanisław
    18529lut.śp OCZKOWICZ Stanisław
    18530lut śp PUTO Andrzej.

    Probably:

    18527:strz.śp MACIEJEWSKI Zygmunt.
    18528:strz.śp OŚWIĘCIMSKI Franciszek.

As I wrote, there is no cross or Legit. in the deposit after strz.śp MACIEJEWSKI Zygmunt.

If they were awarded the MCC to strzelec MACIEJEWSKI then where is the cross and Legit?

    Best wishes

    Artur

    Hello Hordeum,

Many thanks for your post, when awarded the Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 46157 the Recipients details were as follows :

    Rank : St. Sierz.

    Surname : Pieniak

    Christian Name : Franciszek

    Fathers Name : Wojciech

    Date of Birth : 1906

Army Number : (also found on His ID Tags) : 1906-155-III

Unit : Dowództwa Parkow Mat. 2 Korpusu (Material Park Depot for 2nd Corps).

Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 46157

Franciszek Pieniak was either a Regular or Reservist during the September 1939 Campaign and after the soviet invasion on the 17th September, his Regiment made their way to the Lithuanian Border, which they crossed on the 19th September 1939.

He was released from a soviet gulag and made his way to Tatiszczewo to join the Anders Army.

He survived the war, I was only able to find an entry for the death of a Franciszek Pieniak in Bourne in Lincolnshire in 1962.

I hope that the above information helps you on your way Hordeum.

    Best wishes

    Andrzej

    Hello Artur,

In answer to your question, I have dug out the Page from the Register that refers to your enquiry and discovered that it was not the original but a typed copy that has been miss numbered by human error :

    18596-18523 are correct then

18524 are numbered twice therefore make the 2nd 18525

    18525 becomes 18526

    18526 becomes 18527

    18529 becomes 18528

    18530 becomes 18529

I sincerely hope that this answers all your questions and to answer your question why is there nothing to be found, perhaps it was claimed after the war by the Family or a friend.

    Monte Cassino cross

    Best wishes

    Andrzej

p.s. if you wish to clarify this with the PISM they are now closed until January 2020, but I am sure that Andrzej and Jadwiga would be delighted to answer your query.

    Hello Gentlemen-Collectors,

Do you know what is this pretty strange white coating on the cross? Corrosion? Is it very dangerous? And what are the ways to remove it?

I hope you will help me.

    Thank you in advance
