    Default Help: Locating a Medal

    Hello to all,

I am in need of help! I'm looking for the Monte Cassino Commemorative Cross of a family member, but I unfortunately do not know what the serial number is, as he gave all his medals away instead of passing them on to his children. The information is as follows:

    SZYMANSKI Alfons
    Pseudonym: Kriyimon Jozef
    Born: 1913
    Serial No.: 1913/485

He served in the 8th Battalion of the 3rd Carpathian Rifle Division.

This is all the information I have on him and I would be delighted to find out what the number is, or just any information in general. I'd also like to know about any other soldiers in his battalion.

    Many thanks,

    deena

    Hello deena,

List of soldiers from 3 DSK (3rd Carpathian Rifle Division): Lista Żołnierzy 3 Dywizji Strzelców Karpackich

You can easily find soldiers from the 8th Battalion typing "8. bn." into the search engine of your browser.

    Hello Deena,

May I be the first to welcome you to the Forum, I have looked through the Register of Recipients of the Monte Cassino Cross and unfortunately have not found anyone listed either as :

    1) Alfons Szymański

    or

    2) Józef Kriyimon or Krizimon (as listed on the 3DSK List)

Therefore I can only assume that he did not take part in the Battle at Monte Cassino and joined in the fight after May 1944.

The only place that I found him listed was on the Kresy-siberia website Wall of Names.

The best thing you could do at this time is to contact the British Ministry of Defence to obtain a copy of ALL Records that they hold on him. If you do not ask for copies of everything that they hold you will just receive either a 1 or 2 page letter outlining his service.

Unfortunately they do charge a link to their Website is below

    Best wishes

    Andrzej
