    Many thanks, Andrzej.

And one more Face of the Lancer, probably (although with a big question mark) Recipient of the MCC:

Starszy ułan Trofim Czerczyk, Army Number: 1916-45-III, Monte Cassino Cross Numbered ????, Unit: 12 Pułk Ułanów Podolskich, 3 DSK, joined the Anders Army on April 15, 1942

Starszy ułan Trofim Czerczyk when he was in 7 Pułk Ułanów Lubelskich and on the left pocket visible 2 badges: 3 DSK Commemorative Badge and 12 PUP Commemorative Badge

Ribbons, badges and insignia, awarded also Medal Wojska

Legitymacja of the 3 DSK Commemorative Badge Numbered 11129

Legitymacja of the 7 Pułk Ułanów Lubelskich Commemorative Badge unfortunately without Number

Monte Cassino cross Monte Cassino cross

Certificate of Demobilization for Corporal Trofim Czerczyk, Predappio, Italy, 1946

There is no Monte Cassino Cross in the decorations so it raises some doubt if he was awarded it despite the fact that there is a ribbon of the MCC.

Unfortunately I could not find an entry in the Register for Trofim Czerczyk, I have searched through the 3DSK with no joy.

    A general question arises.

Do we know how MCC medals awarded to the fallen soldiers were kept or distributed?

What if there were no known family members, at the time, to be contacted?
