    Hello Konrad,

Many thanks for your reply, after doing some more investigation, I can confirm the following and apologies for my previous information

    1) St.Panc. Piotr Rodziewicz , Born in 1918, Army Number : 1918-42-III, Unit : 2nd Squadron, P4Panc., Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 29497, also awarded the KW and by the end of the war had been promoted to Kapral.

    2) He did not die in London as you stated in your post numbered 4014, but did in fact die in Rastrick Brighouse, West Yorkshire.

    3) He and his wife Stefania applied for British Citizenship in 1964-1965, this was granted to both of them on the 15th June 1965, when their details were as follows :

Rodziewicz Piotr, Poland, Textile Operative, 30 Firth Street, Rastrick, Brighouse, Yorkshire, 15th June 1965

Rodziewicz Stefania, Poland, Housewife, 30 Firth Street, Rastrick, Brighouse, Yorkshire, 15th June 1965.

This appeared in the London Gazette, Issue Number : 43746, Page Number : 8091, Dated : 24th August 1965.

    4) Piotr Rodziewicz died on the 7th September 1984, in Rastrick Brighouse, West Yorkshire and was buried on the 13th September 1984.

    5) Stefania died in 2004.

So all the above answers your question about one Piotr Rodziewicz.

Their are only 2 Piotr Rodziewicz's listed has being Recipients of the Monte Cassino Cross, the other being :

Kapral Piotr Rodziewicz, Born in 1902, Army Number : 1902-63-III, Unit : 15BS, Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 17421.

He is the one who died in London on the 14th March 1992 in Hackney, London and was Cremated on tthe 21st May 1992.

I sincerely hope that the above clarifies everything for you Konrad.

    Best wishes
