    Hello Kasia,

May I be the first to welcome you to the Forum, I have also looked through the Register of Recipients of the Monte Cassino Cross but without finding anything listed for Stanisław Machaj, he might have joined the 2nd Corps after the Battle at Monte Cassino either has a replacement for those killed in action or later after the end of the war in Europe.

The only way of finding out if he took part in any of the Italian Campaign would be to obtain a copy of his Service Record held by the British Ministry of Defence, which they do charge for, if you wish to apply be sure to ask for copies of all records that they have.

Otherwise you will just receive either a one or two letter outlining his service.

The link to the web page is below just click on the link.

Get a copy of military service records: Apply for the records of someone who's deceased - GOV.UK

Once again Kasia welcome to the Forum.

    Best wishes

    Hello Valerii,

Many thanks for your post numbered : 4465, I have looked through the Register for Artur Jerzy Klott, without finding anything listed, the only other piece of information that I found about him was that his Father was Mieczysław Konstanty.

With regards to the Regimental Badge of the 1PULK, I have also looked through the Regimental History without finding him listed at all, Badge Numbered : 643 was awarded to St.Ulan Alfred Karwat.

Unfortunately Valerii I can not help you with any information with regards to emigration Cards for France, your best bet would be to contact the French Embassy and see what they recommend.

    Best wishes

    Andrzej

The seller sells other items of this soldier but at separate auctions unfortunately. Such dividing of souvenirs belonged to one person is highly reprehensible.
