    Hello Valerii,

Many thanks for your post, with regards to Aleksy Kuszner when awarded the Monte Cassino Cross his details were as follows :

    Rank : Kanonier (Artilleryman)

    Surname : Kuszner

    Christian Name : Aleksy

    Date of Birth : 1910

    Fathers Name : Maksym

    Army Number : 1910-102-III

    Unit : 3KPAPL

Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 6701

I have checked the Register of Recipients of the Virtuti Militari without finding him listed and the 3DSK List of soldiers of the Division also do not have anything listed with regards to the VM and KW.

The only way to confirm everything would be for the family to obtain a copy of his service record from the British Ministry of Defence (M-o-D)

    Best wishes

    Andrzej

Hi Andrzej. Please keep an eye out for my dad's MCC nr 25166. Also VM nr 8668. His British Military Cross doesn't seem to have a nr but is here Recommendation for Award for Gradosielski, Jerzy Rank: Second Lieutenant ... | The National Archives.
We suspect these originals have been sold and replaced with copies. (Long story)

p.s. Please let me know how you get on with your search.

p.p.s. Jerzy's Recommendation for the British Military Cross :

    2nd Lieutenant Jerzy Gradosielski

"He commanded a platoon of sappers during the night 11th/12th May 1944 in the attack on Phantom Ridge. In this action he displayed great skill and valour and seized two heavily armed and grimly defended enemy bunkers. He then dressed a badly wounded officer from the 15th Infantry Battalion with complete disregard to his own safety, later during the attack on a third bunker he was himself wounded, but refused to leave the battlefield to be evacuated, until ordered to do so by the Battalion Commander".

Recommended by : Lieutenant General W. Anders, Commanding 2nd Polish Corps.

Approved by : Lieutenant General O.W.H. Leese, GOC Eighth Army.

Approved by : H.R. Alexander, General, Commander in Chief Allied Central Mediterranean Force.

    GRANTED AN IMMEDIATE M.C.
