Many thanks for looking, i will send them a request for data, i was warned that he changed his name when getting citizenship so it might be different in the war, which doesnt help.

    Hello Ben,

Many thanks for your reply, do you have any of your Grandfathers Paperwork including his AB64 or Legitymacja for his Polish Army Medal or British Stars or 2nd Corps Badge etc., these would confirm his name if he changed it during the war.

I have also had a quick look at the London Gazette to see if he was listed without any luck, do you know when he applied and was granted British Citizenship?

    Best wishes

15th January 1943 Józef Wylot wrote about his experiences during his time has a prisoner of the soviets

The following are just a few entries translated into English:

On the 19th September 1939 I crossed the Polish Border into Lithuania and was taken to an internment camp at Wiłkowyszki (modern day Vilkaviškis) and shortly after the soviets entered Lithuania on the 10th July 1940 the inmates of the camp were transported on the 12th July by rail into the soviet union.

Initially in the soviet union they were sent to Kozielsk Camp and lived in the former Orthodox Monastery, then they were moved once again to a camp in the Kola Peninsula they lived in buildings that they had to build themselves in each barracks there were over 200 prisoners.

He goes on to speak about the NKVD interrogations these started out politely, but if they did not receive the answers that they wanted you were beaten.

On the 25th August 1941 there camp at Suzdal was visited by a man who they did not known wearing civilian attire accompanied by soviet generals, it turned out that he was a Pulkownik (Colonel) of the Polish Army and he read to them a letter from General Sikorski.
