    Another Face of a recipient of the Monte Cassino Cross this time a junior officer:

    When awarded the Monte Cassino Cross his details were as follows:

    Surname: Lechocki

    Christian Name: Stanisław Antoni

    Date of Birth: 14th May 1919

    Fathers Name: Jan

    Army Number: 1919-98-III

    Unit: 7PAPLotLek.

    Monte Cassino Cross Numbered: 35684

    Stanisław Lechocki survived the war in Europe and came to the UK with his wife Maria, in 1953 he applied for British citizenship, this was granted on the 30th December 1953 and appeared in the London Gazette Issue number: 40103, Page 1013, Dated: 16th February 1954.

    Stanisław Lechocki died on the 22nd February 2002 in London.

    Bolesław Tadeusz Wagner survived the war in Europe and came to the UK with his unit, he died on the 8th December 1961 aged 38

    He survived the end of the war in Europe and by the end had been awarded the Following Polish and British Awards:

    These were sold on the 7th November 2018 by Bosleys Military Auctioneers.

    Tadeusz came to the UK and set up a practice in London.

    1955 Medical Register list of Foreign Doctors

    Tadeusz Huczko joined the Polish Army in July 1929 and by 1939 he was a Porucznik (Lieutenant) serving in the 13DAK, captured by the soviets and released after germany invaded the soviet union in 1941.

    Tadeusz applied for and was granted British Citizenship on the 30th January 1964

    London Gazette issue numbered: 43280, Page numbered: 2685 Dated 24th March 1964.

    Tadeusz Huczko died on the 13th September 1985 and was cremated on the 20th September 1985

    1986 Probate for Tadeusz Huczko

    Tadeusz was survived by his wife Jadwiga (Nee Perzanowska) Born: 29th June 1911 and died on the 3rd September 1998 aged 87.

    The Citation for the Military Cross is as follows:

    Capitan Tadeusz Huczko

    "As officer commanding 5th Field Ambulance Company throughout the Division's Italian Campaign, Captain Huczko very efficiently organised the medical evacuation from the line to the Main Dressing Stations under very difficult conditions. Under fire and in the almost inaccessible mountains, he particularly distinguished himself during the battle for Monte Cassino, between 13th-18th May 1944. When he overcame immense difficulties in the Medical Evacuation from the most forward Advanced Dressing Stations, in the vicinity of Phantom Ridge down via Cavendish track and the Rapido Valley.

    With dauntless courage and unusual energy, he was instrumental in saving many lives of Polish and Allied troops".

    Recommended by: Lieutenant General Szyszko-Bohusz, Commanding 2nd Polish Corps.

    Counter signed by: Lieutenant General R. L. McCreery, GOC Eighth Army.

    Many thanks for your post the photograph is from the auction site, if you search for Tadeusz Huczko on google you should be able to come across it, the group was sold by Bosley's Military Auctioneers in 2018.

    Kazimierz Dziołak survived the war in Europe and came to the UK with his unit and after being demobbed from the Polish Resettlement Corps he settled down to civilian life in a foreign land.

    Kazimierz Dziołak died on the 20th July 1992 and was cremated on the 30th July 1992 in Islington, London.
