Polish Monte Casino Cross: Real or Fake????

Hi,

I've been in Monte Casino last year and visited the polish cemetery.

On the occasion, i've bought a book about the battle and i was wondering if there was a decoration tha honor the soldiers envolved.

I discovered that there was a Monte Casino Cross, and after a search on the internet i've found this one.

Since i'm not a expert on polish items, i would appreciate your help about it's originality. I would like to purchase a real one.

Is it real or fake???

I am afraid it looks like a well made reproduction. Its also being sold from Poland on Ebay for 9.90 USD.

Polish Cross Monte Cassino.Italian Front 1944. on eBay (end time 13-Feb-10 18:58:54 GMT)

At that price its a good catch, for a copy that is. But if you are looking for an original please use attached photos as a reference guide

I've noticed that the ribbon was too colorful to have almost 70 years!!!!

The medal in the photos is listed in the Reproductions section of Ebay so there is no attempt at deception:

Hey there,
I agree with everything that Stephan has said,I seen one of these fakes up close in a show here in Canada,The give aways most of the time are,They look to new or at the side of one of the arms theres a sharp part,The person who makes these fakes is too lazy to file off the part where the 2 seams met up when the person was casting them.

i've found this that's similiar to the original one shower on this thread by another member.
The ribbon color and form of suspension seems to be good.
What's your oppinion on this one??

"J" that is a great cross with documentation. You've got to be proud of those. Do you have any idea how many of these were produced. Couldn't have been very many.

48,498 were awarded and 50,000 were made by manufactuer in Tel Aviv.

I have attached photos of the three crosses in my collection for reference. While this is certainly not an advertisement for sale, I am looking at parting with all of them.

I do not have the award cards like the ones posted above. Those are really nice! All I know is the unit's they were awarded to based on the serial numbers.
