Polish Vet Ammo Box From South Africa

Hi,

I just picked up this box (appears to be ammo) with Made in Poland marking along with Durban and Johannesburg as possible destinations. The front has marking 1000 pieces.

Any ideas on the box and it came from a family that came from South Africa to Canada.

Could it be pre-war ammo box used by Polish soldier and then immigrant to SA or was it for mining equipment e.g. fuses sold by PL to SA post-war.
