One of my favorite buckles. Here is my gold and silver and the pebbled from the Marc V collection. This is the only one I know of.
Some very nice buckles on display there gents, hard to get hold of buckles at that
Ben
Scarce and expensive buckles,
What a difference in price since the late 1950's.
A US-friend of mine could not sell them for $ 5,-/10,- in those days.
He owned a box, loaded with them. It took him into the early 1970's
to get rid of all of them! Quite some had tags attached......
Maybe the pebbled one from MarcV was also one of them, as he owned
those also a few!! He owned one with a tag "Ausfallmuster", a sample
to show. He had more rare buckles in those days!
They don't come up for sale very often. My silver one was in a 63 buckle collection I bought in the early 80's. Today it is worth around what I paid for the whole collection so it was a great buy. The gold one was the most I have spent for a single buckle but I had to have it.
Getting off of value, These are great looking buckles and much better looking than your standard Police buckle. I would love to find a pebbled example and complete the set.
Wow
I did not have a clue that this buckle was marked too! And with a awesome belt, I love that colour, it matchs perfect with the buckle!
The eagle is very nice! When you see it, you know that this is not a bird that you can pet and play with!
Was Assmann the only maker of this buckle?
Edit: Yes, there are no other know makers of this buckle according to the book by Peter Nash
Hi guys, another question for you
Was this buckle in use only between 1934-1936 ?
Thank you for your time and have a nice weekend
