Hi

I begin a new thread about the belgian army and his volunteers corps for Korea
The battalion is composed by belgian and luxembourgers and had about 3200 men, lost 108 belgian soldiers and 500 wounded.
The battailon is created in 1951 and serve in Korea till 1955, after the battailon became the 3rd belgian Batatalion Para
In Korea, the battalion participated in battles of Imijn, Haktang-ni and Chaktol.
The battalion was first assigned to the British army ( 29th infantry brigade ) and then to the US army ( 1st division cavalry and reassigned to the 7th Infantry Regiment of the 3rd U.S. Division ).
The belgian battalion recieved the US and Korean Presidentile Unit Citation and the King Leopold's Order.

Belgian medal for external operations awarded to the first Belgian contingent for Korea in 1951, also called korean war belgian medal * medal of the first type produced in 450 copies * 1st type recognizable by the two white stripes embroidered on the ribbon, the second model has the white stripes printed in the ribbon
