I usually tend to shy away from items that are in a severe relic condition, but the other day I made an exception.

I bought this helmet from an online seller in Poland. To me this appears to be (correct me if i'm wrong) a ground dug WW1 era M16 helmet that was reissued to the SS during WW2. It has clear evidence of the swastika decal, and in the sunlight I can see some remains of the SS runes. There is extensive damage to the helmet, but I thought it was still a really cool piece of history worth buying. Just thought I would share it with you guys!

    Best regards- Jarret

Nice buy. I recently got a waffen ss single decal helmet from kurland for 10€, I think it’s from the 19th waffen ss division. Raul

    Jarret,

My truthful advice.....unless this cost next to nothing, and taking "condition" out of the equation, I would have passed.

It is fairly easy to fake a decal on this. And near impossible to authenticate. It's a leap of faith unless there are photos of this in the ground.
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated

My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

Usually in that condition if there was a decal I would expect to see paint as well but on this there is zero.

Hope you didn't paint too much for this.

    Thanks for the opinions guys!

I didn't pay much at all for this. It was one of those items where you see the price tag, and go "Oh, for that price why not?!"

There is very little left to see with this relic, as long as you are happy with it then it is fine. I have personally left shells behind that have been this decayed. But each to his own.

You can buy a lot at why not prices. The key question for those interested in history is if it is authentic.
That should be figured out perhaps by using the USB microscope it can be ascertained.
